Reading the map
Top-right (A3/T2) is the ideal: fully autonomous, fully transparent. Most self-hosted open-source tools live here.
Bottom-left (A0/T0) is the opposite: cloud-bound and closed. Google Drive, Notion.
The diagonal tells the story. Tailscale (A2/T1) trades some autonomy for convenience. Obsidian (A2/T0) keeps your data local but the app is closed. Plex (A1/T0) requires cloud authentication for your own media.
Not every tool needs to be A3/T2. But every choice should be intentional.
